Stein Fjell Lodge Scholarships
Each year Stein Fjell Lodge awards scholarships to help defray the cost of an accredited post-high-school educational institution. Two, one-time, up to $1000 scholarships are awarded: a Member-Nominated Scholarship to a Stein Fjell Lodge member or family member and a Community Scholarship to a student without lodge affiliation who lives in the area served by the lodge — Greeley to Estes Park and Longmont to Cheyenne. If there is only one application received between the Member-Nominated and Community Scholarship Applications, that person will be awarded up to $1,500.
To apply, please use the appropriate link and complete the application form. Submit it no later than April 1. The recipient will be notified no later than April 22.
MEMBER-NOMINATED SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION
The Stein Fjell Memorial Scholarship Fund assists any Stein Fjell Lodge or affiliate member wishing to attend Norwegian language camps or other courses of study in Norwegian heritage, culture, or history, such as the Concordia Language Camp or Camp Norge. The application deadline is April 1; award(s) are announced by May 1.
If there are no qualified scholarship applicants, the funds, as grants, will offset up to 50% of the costs for members who have completed similar local cultural classes, such as Hardanger, rosemaling, woodcarving, and language courses.
To apply for either scholarship or grants, complete the STEIN FJELL MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANT APPLICATION, submitting it by April 1.

Dear Lodge Leaders and Foundation Directors of District Six,
On behalf of the Sons of Norway Foundation, I extend heartfelt thanks to you for your leadership and dedication. Here in the Sixth District—stretching across the West—we are especially proud of the spirit and generosity our members bring to the Foundation’s mission. Your commitment continues to inspire and make a lasting impact in our communities.
I am pleased to share some highlights from 2024—together we accomplished much to be proud of:
– Over $207,000 raised to support the Foundation’s mission.
– $110,400 awarded in grants to strengthen our lodges, districts, and communities.
– $148,000 awarded in scholarships to 37 students pursuing studies in the U.S., Norway, and beyond.
These achievements are not just national successes—they reflect the heart of our Sixth District lodges. Whether it is supporting students, strengthening our local communities, or sustaining the traditions we cherish, you and your members are the backbone of this good work.
Attached you will find a Certificate of Appreciation recognizing your lodge’s role in this success. Please share it proudly with your members—it is a symbol of gratitude for your dedication and a reminder that “Together, we are the future.”
Tusen takk for all you do, and skål to the bright future we are building in District Six and beyond.
With warm regards,
Jim
