Scholarships

Each year Stein Fjell Lodge awards scholarships to help defray the cost of an accredited post-high-school educational institution. Two, one-time scholarships, each up to $1,000 are awarded: a Member-Nominated Scholarship to a Stein Fjell Lodge member or family member and a Community Scholarship to a student without lodge affiliation who lives in the area served by the lodge (Loveland, Fort Collins, Greeley, Longmont, Windsor, and the surrounding communities).  In 2017, each scholarship will be in the amount of $750.

To apply, please click on the appropriate link below and fill out the application form. Submit it no later than December 31st. The recipient will be notified no later than March 30th.

The Sons of Norway Foundation offers six categories of scholarships and four categories of grants to Sons of Norway members and their families. Access detailed information regarding these benefits by using the links provided.


Youth Scholarships are offered by Sons of Norways’ District Six each year [usual application deadline]:

6th District – undergraduates attending a four-year American college/university [April 1]

Concordia Skogfjordan Norwegian Language Camp - over 12, Heritage/Unge Venner member [March 1]

Camp Trollfjell “Campership” – ages 8-13, Heritage member [April 15]  

Trollfjell Folkehøskule  – ages 14-17, Heritage member [April 15]

The Stein Fjell Memorial Scholarship Fund assists any Stein Fjell Lodge or affiliate member wishing to attend Norwegian language camps or other courses of study in Norwegian heritage, culture, or history, such as the Concordia Language Camp or Camp Norge. Application deadline is April 1; the award(s) will be announced by May 1.

If there are no qualified scholarship applicants, the funds, as grants, will offset up to 50% of the costs for members who have completed similar local cultural classes, such as Hardanger, rosemaling, woodcarving, and language courses.
